Crawford Viaduct [Camps Reservoir Railway]

Built in the 1920s on behalf of Lanarkshire County Council, the 3ft gauge Camps Reservoir Railway ran from a small yard alongside the WCML at Crawford to a remote construction site some 3 miles to the east. Work on the new reservoir was completed by 1930, following which the rail route was abandoned. The photograph shows the old trackbed in 2009 looking back towards Crawford. Note the bridge built to carry the narrow gauge line over the Clyde, plus the Euston bound Pendolino passing the site of the former yard.
