| 30/06/1837 | Taff Vale Railway Act passed for branch to Cyfartha Iron Works and branch to Plymouth Iron Works, Penydarren Iron Works and Dowlais Iron Works. Only the branch to connect to Crawshays Private Railway was opened. The branch also served the Ynysfach Steel Works. |
| 09/06/1879 | Dowlais and Merthyr Joint Line London and North Western Railway passenger service starts to run to Merthyr. Access also opened to the Crawshays Private Railway. |
| 01/04/1886 | Quakers Yard and Merthyr Joint Railway (Great Western Railway and Rhymney Railway) Opened. The line connected to the Crawshays Private Railway and the Vale of Neath Railway at Merthyr. Joint Great Western Railway and Rhymney Railway. |
