Millerhill EMU Depot (Network Rail)

Introduction

This EMU depot was opened in 2018 for ScotRail. It was a part of the EGIP improvements for the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway which included its electrification and the provision of this new depot for maintenance of the new EMUs. The opening of this depot has put added pressure on the single track approach to Portobello Junction and improvements are planned. The single track currently carries Borders Railway (Network Rail), depot and occasional freight or permanent way trains.
