Singer Deviation (North British Railway)

Introduction

This line was built to the north of the Singer Works and allowed for the expansion of the works (west side of Kilbowie Road) and the development of a large passenger station for the works (east side of Kilbowie Road).

Singer Deviation

East of Singer station the Singer Deviation (North British Railway) left the former Glasgow, Dumbarton and Helensburgh Railway. This is a two platform station with shelters on the platforms. It replaced Kilbowie [1st] on the original, now closed, alignment to the south. It originally had station buildings with full length canopies on the platforms and a booking office on Kilbowie Road at its east end. The new station directly adjoined the factory on its north side, it was built to serve it and the local area.
