Manningtree

The sun and thermometer mercury are both about to drop out of sight at Manningtree in January 1979. Leaving for Ipswich and Norwich is a Class 31 on an express passenger working from Liverpool Street, a challenging task normally given to a Class 47. The semaphores also controlled the junction with the Harwich branch, and were replaced when the junction was remodelled in 1980.
