Clitheroe

6K05 is the daily Carlisle to Crewe infrastructure train and, since 15th December 2008, has been routed via Settle and Blackburn rather than Shap. As the sun goes down at Clitheroe 66173 is halted, south of the station and just before the level crossing, waiting for the passenger service to clear Daisyfield Junction. Sometimes this train conveys four wheeled wagons but on this occasion the 66 was hauling nineteen bogie vehicles. Since this picture was taken there has been an upgrade to the line and an intermediate signal installed at Whalley to increase line capacity.
