Naval Base Junction

The line serving North Queensferry's first station and pier gained a junction when the Rosyth Naval Base opened in Edwardian times and this is the location where the lines parted.  The line from here to North Queensferry closed in the 1950s, but the relative newcomer survives.  The branch leaves the main line at Inverkeithing South Junction a mile in the distance, but the main line rises so quickly (for the Forth Bridge) that it is already high above on the Jamestown viaduct.  This seldom-used line retains a loop controlled though the ground frames at either end called Naval Base North and Naval Base South (in middle distance).
