North Queensferry

SPT uses 170s on only two of its routes, and more sets were delivered in SPT livery than could be needed on them, leading one to suspect they once had higher hopes. The consequence is that these sets frequently appear on services originating in Edinburgh and going nowhere near Glasgow. Here on 4 March 2009 an almost empty 170 472 comes off the Forth Bridge into North Queensferry station on a morning Fife circle working having passed busy commuter trains heading the other way in quick succession.
