It's August 1994 and the occasion is a Historic Scotland excursion from Glasgow Central to Rothesay Castle by train (reserved coach on a Class 303) and ferry. On the way through Wemyss Bay station our guide gave a brief talk on the the building and it's then recent restoration. By the look of things he either hadn't yet got everybody's attention or had already lost it.
