Smeaton

Clayton 8607 pulls away northbound from Smeaton sidings in the summer of 1971 with a loaded coal train heading for Millerhill Yard. The junction top right is the doubling of the line to Monktonhall Junction. Beyond that was a former connection to Carberry Colliery (closed in 1960) located approximately half a mile to the east of here (see 68142). The village of Whitecraig stands in the background.
