Farington Junction

One of the last freights to enter the Leyland Motors complex, a train of oil tankers, seen around 1981. The Class 47 is running round while the resident industrial Fowler diesel shunter lurks in the background. Although not used for thirty years the sidings are still in place and the Fowler was only removed a few years ago (into preservation on the proposed Poulton to Fleetwood line). View north towards Preston with the WCML to the right.
