Carnforth Furness and Midland Junction
37409 accelerates the 1004 Preston to Barrow away from Carnforth F&M Junction and past the engineers sidings as it heads towards the bridge at Warton and the next stop at Silverdale. The link from F&M Junction to Carnforth East (straight ahead in the distance on this image) closed in 1998 and the two signal boxes were demolished. Occasional trains working through from the Barrow line to Settle Junction now have to run through the station and reverse in the loops alongside the WCML.
