Kilmarnock

Stranger in the camp at Kilmarnock station noted upon arrival just before 0700hrs, Monday, 25/01/2019, with sparklingly clean Class 170 Turbostar No 170429 stabled in Bay Platform 1, said platform normally the domain of one of the local Class 156 Sprinters that stable there overnight before heading out in the Troon direction either before 0600hrs or on the 0800hrs service to Girvan. Why No 170429 was present unknown, either we were about to get a serious upgrade in train provision in Ayrshire or this particular unit was fresh out of works (Wabtec or Brodies, not sure which) and awaiting transfer back to it's home depot, although suspect the latter to be the case as I don't think Ayrshire is quite ready to see the back of it's Sprinters just yet!

[Update: departed Kilmarnock at 1111 and arrived at Haymarket 1357.]
