Gainford Bridge

Just west of Gainford village there are two arched stone bridges crossing the upper reaches of the River Tees, in close proximity to each other as it winds it way to the east coast. These are on the former line between Darlngton and Barnard Castle. The easternmost bridge is Gainford Bridge with the westernmost one being West Tees Bridge. This view taken looking south west from close to the former road overbridge on the nearby A67 road shows the deck of the fenced off Gainford Bridge. Tree growth over the last 11 years prevents a now view from the same location as that of 2008 See image 18857
