Swanwick Junction

The Midland Railway Centre, or Midland Railway, Butterley as it is also known. 47401 was attached to UK Railtours' excursion from London Victoria to assist the train into Swanwick Junction station where it is seen, with 66753 behind, on Saturday, 4th May 2019. This first Brush Type 4 entered service as D1500, based at Finsbury Park depot in north London, on 28th September 1962. With the rundown of the class in the mid 1980s, the locomotive, by now 47401, managed to survive until withdrawal on 5th June 1992, three months short of its 30th birthday. It arrived at the Midland Railway Centre on 7th July 1993 and began passenger operations there 10 days later.
