Waterside Level Crossing

Name and dates

Waterside Level Crossing (1852-)

Opened on the Stirling and Dunfermline Railway.

Description

This level crossing is at Waterside, just east of the former Causewayhead station on the line between Stirling and Alloa.

With the re-routing of Ladyneuk Road, the road to Cambuskenneth, to favour this crossing, rather than Abbeycraig Level Crossing which is to the east, this crossing was retained when the line re-opened and Abbeycraig was stopped up.

As the road runs south to Cambuskenneth, famous for Cambuskenneth Abbey, the crossing is sometimes known as Cambuskenneth Level Crossing.
