Westfield Loop (1898-1967)

Opened on the Torbanehill and Bathgate Branch (Monkland Railways).

Description

This was the junction for Eastrigg Colliery Pit No 1. The siding ran south west from the main line. It closed by the 1890s. In 1898 a loop opened here for Westfield Paper Mill on east side of line. The branch was on east side running north for the mill. The Eastrigg siding was laid in again for Craigrigg Colliery Pit No 1,
Craigrigg Colliery Pit No 2, Craigrigg Colliery Pit No 3 and Craigrigg Brick Works.

The line closed to passengers in 1930 and the box closed around 1931. The loop was retained.

The line north west from the loop closed in 1964 and the railway south closed in 1967.
