Engineer of the Monkland Railways.
Engineer of the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway (as MR absorbed 1865).
Engineer of the North British Railway (as E&GR absorbed 1865).
Engineer, western district North British Railway, 1869.
Chief engineer of the City of Glasgow Union Railway (first portion opened 1870). Notably Springburn street level building, which still stands, in 1875.
Designed glazed roof of Glasgow Queen Street (High Level) (1878).
Chief engineer of the North British Railway by 1879 on retirement of James Deas.
Designed north and south viaduct approaches to the Forth Bridge in 1882.
Designed Bellgrove station, 1883.
Station at north end of Tay Bridge 1888 - must be Dundee Esplanade.
Inverkeithing, the second and current station, 1890.
Forth Bridge Connecting Lines, doubling Inverkeithing to Townhill Junction, doubling Kelty to Mawcarse, 1890.
