Bridgend Motorworks Branch (British Railways)

Introduction

This single track branch was built for the Ford Bridgend Engine Plant which opened in 1980. It joins the Vale of Glamorgan Railway south of Barry Junction, Bridgend. Departure is to the east. The line crosses the A48 on the level just outside the works. Trains travel to and from Ford Dagenham.

This engine plant is located at Waterton, just to the south east of Bridgend. It is served by a railway from the Vale of Glamorgan Railway with sidings on the south side of the plant, a small yard leading to a siding on the south side of the works. To the west the line crosses the A48 on the level. Trains travel to Ford Dagenham.
