This private mineral line ran west from exchange sidings, south of Cowdenbeath (Old) station, to the washery, fireclay works and pits of the Hill of Beath Colliery. The line to the colliery was built in the late 1860s. The pits were taken over by the Fife Coal Company in 1896. A railway connection from by the washery was put through to Mossbeath Colliery and the other Cowdenbeath pits. Dalbeath Pit, the main production site, closed around 1930.
