Plashetts Colliery Waggonway

Introduction

This waggonway is closed. It ran from Plashetts station, on the Border Counties Railway, up Slaters Incline to Plashetts Colliery and Far Colliery. The western end is now submerged in the Kielder Reservoir but Slaters Incline can still be seen and has a landing stage.

The Plashetts Coal and Coke Company opens a drift mine by the Belling Burn with cottages at Seldom Seen. A waggonway was built from the colliery to Plashetts station on the Border Counties Railway.

New partnership formed to run Plashetts Colliery. John Slater is the chief partner. Seldom Seen Mine is closed and two new mines are opened. Bank Top and Far Colliery villages are built.
