This was an 1880 3ft mineral line which ran south from Torrington station to the Marland Clay Works and its quarries. Much of the line was taken over by the London and South Western Railway associated North Devon and Cornwall Junction Light Railway which used the northern part of the mineral line, rebuilt to standard gauge, to reach Torrington from the south west. The northern portion re-opened in 1925 and the 3ft portion remained in use within the works.
The North Devon and Cornwall Junction Light Railway closed as a through route in 1965 and was retained from Torrington as far as the Meeth Clay Works. The approach to the Marland Clay Works closed in 1968. The line to Meeth Clay Works closed in 1982 and was lifted in 1984.
The largest structure on the line was the Torrington Viaduct, which was rebuilt when the line was converted to standard gauge.
This line is divided into a number of portions.
