Looking west at the fallen Ness Viaduct on the day of its collapse. The photograph was taken around lunchtime, the banks of the river lined with silent onlookers. Rails had been cut at the west end, allowing the track to drop. Cables were still strung across between the ends, splashing around in the floodwaters.
