Clayton D8616 stands at Dundee West on 30 March 1975, more than 3 years after its official withdrawal from Polmadie. The locomotive had been used on this occasion for rerailing practice. D8616 made its final trip, to J McWilliams yard Shettleston for disposal, some 4 months later in August 1975.
