Powderhall Bridge

Containers of compacted household waste, destined for landfill, forming part of the morning Powderhall - Oxwellmains Binliner service on 18 June 2008. Part of the train is standing on the bridge over the Water of Leith just north of the former Powderhall station, now part of a large Edinburgh Council refuse depot. Positioning of the container flats alongside the loading/unloading apron is carried out using the depots internal cable-haulage system see image 12012. Just beyond the bridge lay Bonnington South Junction, meeting point of the lines from North Leith and Granton.
