There used to be sidings here alongside the Glasson Dock, Lancaster Canal basin and they continued beyond the trees to the dock itself See image 66272 for an old map of the dock area. Shortly before closure in 1964 Fowler 2-6-4T 42301 from Lancaster Green Ayre shed was brought down with the branch goods for scrapping by shipbreakers but this was a one off event. The dock itself continues to be busy with commercial shipping, including a daily freight service to the Isle of Man, hence the cranes that can be seen.
