Looking every inch a rural branch line this is Fishergate Hill tunnel in the heart of Preston on the branch to the dock estate. Beyond the 145yd tunnel the line climbs at 1 in 29 to emerge alongside Preston station. After many years out of use the branch now sees a healthy three tank trains a week, but in 1952 it saw twelve trains a day.
