This is the huge edifice that was once Glasgow High Street Goods Station, pictured in October 1984 with six months to go before the demolition teams arrived. Photographing the site was particularly unnerving for two reasons. Firstly, the cavernous structure was full of the ghosts of the hundreds of workers who'd toiled in the building since it was built in 1904. Discarded equipment, paperwork and signage to long closed rail destinations was lying everywhere. Secondly, there appeared to be much more physical presence about in the upper reaches of the building. Not a time to be caught deep in a derelict maze with valuable camera equipment. Either end of the building had a prominent clock at roof level. The station's time had run out one day in March 1982 at 11.15.
