Scarborough

View north from Belgrave Terrace road bridge into Scarborough station on Sunday 28 September 2008. On the left is the lengthy former excursion platform 1 with its own passenger buildings, central canopy, station exit and record-breaking 456 feet long public bench. Platforms 1 and 2 are being used for stabling of Northern and First TransPennine stock, while platforms 3-5 are currently unoccupied. Platforms 6-9 were demolished in the 1980s and the land given over to coach parking and retail outlets, although the original station roof is still in place.
