Ravenstonedale
The disused trackbed from Kirkby Stephen East peters out at Ravenstonedale station and for the rest of the way to Tebay lies under the A685 road, which can be seen on the left of this picture. The station opened in 1861 as Newbiggin but changed in 1877. It closed in 1952 although freight and excursions passed through for another ten years. The station, now a home, retains many railway features.
