Britain's shortest railway? The remains of an old Admiralty jetty standing in the Firth of Forth just off Carlingnose Point, to the east of North Queensferry station in February 2009. The surviving rails of the 3 ft gauge double track railway can be clearly seen on the decking. In the middle distance a tanker is loading North Sea oil at the BP terminal off Hound Point on the south shore, while in the left background lies the City of Edinburgh, with the framework of the old Granton gasometer to the fore.
