Oops - and not an orange jacket in sight. Brush Class 47, 47463, heading for Holyhead with a passenger train, creeps gingerly past a derailed brake van and coal trucks at Colwyn Bay. My records show the loco in charge of the freight was a Class 40, 40031, the former Sylvania, which was withdrawn two months later. The Class 47 lasted a further 14 years and both were dismantled in Crewe Works.
