Carlisle Kingmoor Marshalling Yard
BR class 83 locomotive no 83012 (formerly AL3 no E3035) at the south end of Kingmoor Yard in 1984. One of 5 prototype classes (81-85) commissioned by BR for evaluation as part of the development of a standard AC electric locomotive, 15 of the class were built at the English Electric Vulcan Foundry in the early 1960s. Withdrawn by BR in 1989, no 83012 has since been preserved by the AC Locomotive Group at Barrow Hill.
