No skimping on the passing loops on this single line. Despite singling the Saintes to Angeloume line has been left with several lengthy loops, suitable for freight trains, as can be seen in this view from the front of a DMU for Saintes running in to Chateauneuf sur Charente and crossing a freight heading towards Angouleme.
