Newcastle Central

An A3 Pacific pulls out of Newcastle Central in 1965 and heads for the King Edward Bridge with the up Tees-Tyne Pullman. Introduced in 1948, this was the first BR train other than the London - Paris Golden Arrow to carry a dedicated bar coach (dubbed The Hadrian Bar). The ageing non-air conditioned stock, coupled with the planned introduction of IC125 sets, resulted in the service eventually being withdrawn in 1976.
