Meadowside Junction

BR Standard class 4 no 76046 photographed just at Meadowside Junction from the signal box, south of Renfrew Wharf around 1966. Yoker power station dominates the skyline on the north side of the river. On the left is an old building carrying the name Simons Lobnitz, a renowned shipbuilder specialising in dredgers and hopper barges, whose products were deployed on major projects worldwide, including construction of the Panama Canal. Operations ceased here in 1964. The line to Renfrew Wharf lost its passenger service in 1967 with this section closing completely in 1978.
