Dunfermline Town

From the days when there was only one station in Dunfermline a largely empty 117 310 heads for Edinburgh with the returning 1638 Inner Circle, a pretty sure 117 diagram at a period when they were only used at peak hours to supplement the 150s. All those doors made for quick loading and emptying, accompanied by a burst of door slamming like machine gun fire. The downside of lots of doors was that they had to be placed between facing seats, so anyone still sitting who had feet bigger than size 4 invariably got them trodden on. Photographed in June 1997.
