There's a lot of history in this picture.
I took it in 1964 for the cable tramway carrying spoil up to the tip. In the foreground is the Taff Vale line to Merthyr; in the middle distance, beyond the buildings, is the embankment of the GWR/RR line from Quakers Yard to Merthyr.
The building on the left is a school - destroyed in 1966 when the tip collapsed onto the village of Aberfan.
