Impressive motive power line up at Springs Branch steam shed, which was an unusual weekday occurrence but this was an ASLEF strike day. Stabled left to right are 25288, 40133, 40042, 40141, 40055, 47298 and 25149. The Class 47 was the longest lived of these engines. Formerly D1100 it was later used by Direct Rail Services and only withdrawn in 2006 but cut up the following year. The SP diesel shed, still in existence as Wigan CRDC, is to the right of the picture and the WCML wires can be seen on the left.
