The Caledonian Railway had to go a long way round to get access to the eastern half of Leith docks, so they perhaps hoped that a passenger service would recoup some costs. However they got no further than building platforms at three locations, including Leith Walk. Though tantalisingly out of sight they are presumably still there, on the other side of the former bridge over The Walk, seen here on 10 October 2009 looking east. (I wonder which door was going to be the street-level entrance?)
