Leith North

Birmingham Sulzer Type 2 D5308 (with EE Type 4 D368 at the rear) with the empty stock of the Royal Train near Leith North (note the closed station approach to the left) on 16 October 1962 on the occasion of the State Visit by King Olav of Norway. A few hours later, with D368 leading, the Royal Train carried the King's party (which had earlier arrived by ship at Leith Docks) to Princes Street station to be met by the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh. The view is from Lindsay Road Bridge looking back towards Newhaven .....for the same view 47 years later see image 22977.
