Folowing closure of the Speyside line in 1968, the future (other than a short interlude while coal traffic continued to Aberlour) lay in modern railheads at Dufftown (for grain and coal) and Elgin (for whisky and general freight). At Elgin a new container crane was installed, and here a BR feeder lorry with a whisky 'custom lock' container from Speyside stands beside a Class 24 shunting the ex-GNSR yard.
