A 1977 view showing the westward expansion and modernisation of Elgin freight depot following the removal of the platforms (the Class 24 is standing in the former through platform road) after the withdrawal of the Coast and Craigellachie passenger services in 1968. For the next 25 years Elgin served as a major railhead for whisky, military equipment, oil and general freight traffic, with a mix of containerised and conventional wagon business.
