Forth Bridge

Scene at Hawes Pier, South Queensferry in June 1962 as the paddle-driven ferry Robert the Bruce, (with a carrying capacity of 28 cars), prepares for another crossing. One of 4 such ferries withdrawn on the opening of the road bridge in 1964, it was cut up by P&W McLellan at Bo'ness the following year. Meantime, high above the water, a Standard Class 5 and a B1 can be seen double-heading a northbound goods train onto the Forth Bridge.
