Alumina empties from Fort William to Blyth edge across the Royal Border Bridge behind a Transrail-liveried Class 37 in 1996. At the time, the photographer was undertaking a study of rail freight potential for Berwick-upon-Tweed Borough Council, and phoned the signalman at Tweedmouth signal box to ask when the train was expected. The reply came: Well he's in the station loop at Berwick waiting to be overtaken by a southbound passenger, but I'll bring him across the bridge to Tweedmouth loop so you can get your picture!
