Ulverston

A Cumbrian Coast service, formed by 156459, leaves Ulverston for Carlisle and passes the disused section of the island platform. Beyond the semaphore is the signal box, which used to control access to the elevated goods yard situated in the old terminus station behind the trees on the right. Ulverston is one of four surviving mechanical signal boxes between Carnforth and Barrow in Furness, the others being Arnside, Grange-over-Sands and Dalton Junction and the semaphores continue all the way round the coast to Carlisle.
