Ah, the characterful sounds of the motors, the mournful 'ding' of the
signal bell, the clunk of the doors; ricocheting about the carriage
because of the poor suspension and springy upholstery, the feeling that you were always about to come off the rails... ou sont les 305s
d'antan? One of the class in semi-retirement in East Lothian after a hard life in the East End of London and Essex 305 508 is seen here at Prestonpans on its way to North Berwick in June 1999.
