A photograph taken in August 1970 showing the station originally opened as Wath in 1851, renamed Wath-on-Dearne in 1907 and closed to passengers as Wath Central in 1959. The station was located between Wath Yard and Mexborough and had been served by Doncaster - Barnsley trains. The line continued in use for freight traffic until 1988 with the buildings eventually being demolished as part of a road improvement scheme in 2004.
