There is still (in May 2010) Mark II stock out there in a few pockets of the network but no longer, as far as I know, any of the non-air conditioned stock, with its real opening windows, pictured here in June 1994. A loco-hauled service had been introduced between Edinburgh and Inverness (and return) in the summer months to supplement the already established Class 158s. A real late-1960s period piece, though they seemed to be reluctant to abandon the comforting wooden interior people expected of a train.
