The attractive station of Alva Kyrka (Alva church) on the Swedish island of Gotland (largest island in the Baltic) opened with the railway line in 1900 and seen here in 1957. The staircase to the right leads to the ticket office and the small waiting room. To the right of that are the doors to the goods reception area. The staircase on the left gave acces to the station masters accommodation. ...Editor's note: The website was recently contacted by Swedish journalist Staffan Fritz, who is writing an article on the former station (closed along with the line in 1960) which once served the small Gotland community of Alva. He thought it would be interesting to show a photograph taken at 'the other Alva' see image 15005. So did I. j
